Tim Denison is a strategic advisor who brings decades of senior leadership at the National Security Agency, seven years as a Senior Fellow and Consultant with In-Q-Tel — the Intelligence Community's strategic investor — and deep experience across the defense industry and venture-backed technology companies.
At NSA, Tim retired after eighteen years at the senior executive level, serving as Director of Industrial Relations, Director of Analytic Transformation, Associate Director for Planning and Performance under the Agency's Chief Technology Officer, and as senior advisor and staff chief to the Agency's Director. In these roles he directed technology efforts spanning more than ten thousand personnel and several billion dollars annually, improving investor trust and reducing operating costs by hundreds of millions while driving large-scale organizational change.
Tim's recognized areas of expertise span cybersecurity and cyber operations, systems analysis, data analytics, software engineering, and enterprise transformation. Today he advises investors and companies on strategy, market entry, and execution across multiple sectors. He is a patent holder on a method and system for privacy-preserving contract tracing, assists in commercializing Georgetown University's research in distributed analytic ecosystems, and serves as an advisor to the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, advancing AI adoption across the Department of Defense.
A native of Central Pennsylvania and longtime Maryland resident, Tim lives with his wife in Ellicott City.
